Nazis, 3D film pioneers

Before James Cameron's avatar or Jackass 3D there were the true 3D pioneers, the Nazis.

An aussie film maker named Philippe Mora has discovered 2 30-minute Nazi propaganda films which preceded WWII. Philippe found the films a Berlin Federal Archives. Apparently although the films were in 3D, the Nazis still managed to produce 3D film.

Apparently the films were shot with a prism in front of the two lenses which helped record in 3D. The films were referred to as "raum film" which means space film (fitting huh).

I really hope that there are more of these films for us to find, it would be amazing to watch a film which was in 3D but still not colour.

  5. Although I cant agree with the Nazis cause or fight, I must admit Hitler was one Brilliant mind. I remember reading somewhere in the propaganda films shown in Germany and other countries as they took over them they compared the Jews to rats, buy using not so subtle comparisons such as showing a clip of hundreds of Jewish people rushing/walking together then fading in a clip of hundreds and hundreds of rats doing the same thing. he was in interesting person regardless of his horrific actions against a whole set of people. Probably one of the first to really use subliminal marketing strategies to obtain his ambitions.

  10. Hah, Joe! If you take away his motivations he wouldn't be anything. But this is very interesting, I wouldn't have guessed that this could have been implemented so long ago. They were very creative.
