thinner is better (for laptops anyway)

So we all know that the macbook air is the benchmark laptop when it comes to portability but the new series 9 laptop by Samsung could be a strong contender to take the air's place as the most portable laptop. The 13.3inch laptop by samsung not only plans to be thinner but also has plans to out perform the mac book air specs wise as well with a more updated processor. The following are the specs for the series 9 13.3inch model:

Intel Core i5-2537M processor
Durable chassis made of aircraft-quality duralumin
Dramatic enclosure with arching curves and remarkable durability
Duralumin contruction—Twice as strong as aluminum
13.3 in active matrix TFT color LCD, LED backlit (1366 x 768)
4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz
128GB solid state drive
6-cell lithium-ion battery
Battery life of up to seven hours
1.3-megapixel high-definition webcam
802.11abg/n WiDi Capable/WIMAX Wireless LAN
Bluetooth V3.0 High Speed
Mini-HDMI Port
High Speed USB 3.0 port
12.9″ W x 8.9″ D x 0.62″ ~ 0.64″ H

However, if you want the premium product, of course you are going to have to pay a premium price. The cheapest in the series 9 lineup will set you back $1649 which is $50 more expensive than the most expensive macbook air. Personally i am quite happy with my macbook, its nothing special but it gets the job done and thats what counts.

  13. If I had the money I'd probably get it, but I feel like I'd break it. I'd rather an android tablet..

  14. Ugh, I hate small laptops and I abhor netbooks. 13 inch screen? Fuck that noise.

  15. With this whole thin war going on, I can't help but wonder if the laptop manufacturers are sacrificing durability for a sleek design. I mean, I've heard of people breaking their ipods by accidentally sitting on them.
